What’s new in VelvetSpeak v1.4.8

Notes from the closed beta

Since our last update about v1.3.6, VelvetSpeak has gained Heads-ups, easier-to-find Settings, more useful saved context and several fixes to keep help in step with the conversation. This catch-up covers v1.3.7 through v1.4.8, our latest build.

Heads-ups: small pieces of context while you listen

Where available for your account and lens, Heads-ups can bring you brief definitions, calculations and checks of public facts during a conversation. They give you useful context without needing to request every small clarification yourself.

Updates since their introduction in v1.3.8 have made them easier to read on the quiet listening screen. Numbers use full values, and calculation equations appear when space allows. We also clarified their controls and consent wording.

In v1.4.8, Heads-ups start On when you have not previously chosen a setting. If you already switched them Off, that choice stays Off. Availability still depends on your lens and the server rollout for your account. You can change the setting in Settings.

Heads-ups can still miss context or get something wrong. Treat them as a prompt to think or check, especially when a fact matters.

Settings are easier to find and navigate

v1.4.6 reorganised Settings into clearer categories, added search on the phone and improved Back navigation. You can search for a control instead of opening several sections to find it.

The glasses menus also have clearer labels and guidance for the action available on the current screen. Transcript display is controlled from the phone, and empty Work-tone cards have been removed.

Saved context that can help sooner

v1.4.7 improved how Coach selects relevant facts, including whether an older detail is still timely. Automatic Coach work also waits until its glasses display is visible; Guide me remains available when you want to ask for guidance.

v1.4.8 makes eligible automatic memories useful sooner. Low-risk goals, preferences and commitments from your own explicit words can be saved on this phone and help relevant later answers without a separate confirmation for each save.

Auto-save eligible memories starts On when you have no saved choice. Existing Off choices stay Off. You can view or remove saved memories, undo an automatic save, or switch auto-save Off in Memory. Minimal capture does not automatically save these memories.

Automatic saving is limited: it excludes sensitive material, secrets, raw transcripts and inferred feelings or intentions. Saving locally does not mean the context never leaves your phone: relevant saved details may be sent with an answer request to generate help. Cloud Coach Profile confirmation and optional Session memory sync remain separate controls.

Help that stays closer to the moment

Across the releases since v1.3.6, we have also tightened several everyday behaviours:

  • Fewer stale results. Coach and Plan responses from an earlier request are kept from replacing newer work after the context changes.
  • Better timing in Dating Help. A first Help request can stay quiet while your question is unanswered or the other person asks for time to think. If they are mid-answer, it can offer a brief acknowledgment without another question.
  • Cleaner output. We improved handling of garbled speech and conversation summaries, and Medium Lines can retain two complete options when they fit on the final attempt.
  • More reliable feature access. Fixes to consent storage and the connection link address cases where an accepted feature or sign-in flow could fail.

The older Draft / reply-suggestion controls have been retired. Use Help and Lines for wording you actively request.

These changes target specific rough edges. They do not mean every suggestion will be useful or every answer will be correct.

Try it on your next conversation

When v1.4.8 is available to your account in Even Hub, check the version on your phone’s Live screen. Try searching Settings, review your Heads-ups and Memory choices, and notice whether help arrives at a better moment.

App builds and server features can roll out separately, so installing a version does not enable every capability at once.

After a session, use Send feedback to tell us about one moment that helped or missed the mark. You can send feedback without conversation text; optional excerpts are previewed and shared only when you choose them.
