VelvetSpeak v2.0.0 Release Notes & Upcoming changes
Quote from Fox on January 7, 2026, 2:44 amUpdate is now live you will need to go to https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4700404413400241220 to update
Smart Companion 2.0 + Insights Lite + Practice Mode v2
This update is focused on one thing: making VelvetSpeak feel genuinely useful in real conversations, without turning the app into a complicated control panel.
1) Smart Companion 2.0 (the “nudge engine”)
Smart Companion has been rebuilt to speak up less often, but with higher signal.
Frequency control (your choice):
Off
Rare (default)
Occasional
Active (advanced)
What it can catch:
Your reply is weak or flat → suggests a stronger follow up
The convo is dying → gives a revive line or callback
You’re talking too much → nudges you to flip it back to them
Big moment incoming → gives a confident line or hype push
2) Insights Lite after each session
After a conversation you now get a fast recap: 3 numbers + 1 recommended improvement, with one-tap Apply.
Example stats include:
Suggestions accepted vs shown
Silence or freeze moments (and rescues)
Question balance (asked vs answered)
There’s also an optional share button that only shares the stats, no transcript.
3) Practice Mode v2
Practice mode is more structured and more useful, without turning into a scorecard.
What’s new:
Difficulty options: Friendly or Testing
New scenarios, including:
Meeting Parents
Salary Negotiation
Difficult Conversation
Simple progression so you can repeat a scenario and actually see improvement
4) More content without breaking stability
More variety using the existing engine so you get fresh value without destabilizing the core experience.
Includes:
More “first date” style variations (playful, calm, etc.)
Expanded witty and quick-rizz playbooks
Better starter templates so new users get value fast
Vault templates starter pack
5) Stability and rollout improvements
This patch also includes reliability work so the app feels less fragile:
Better monitoring and logging for quicker bug fixes
Safer updates and smoother iteration
Where to find the new controls
Most of the new options live under:
Settings → AI & Routing → Guidance & Nudges
and
Settings → AI & Routing → Insights & Memory
If anything feels spammy, confusing, or not worth the attention cost, tell me what happened and what mode you were in. That feedback directly tunes the next patch.
Next Patch Preview (what I’m building toward next)
Now that A and B are getting stable, the next patch is focused on high-leverage upgrades that make VelvetSpeak feel more like a real product you can grow with. These features also add complexity, so I’m going to ship them carefully and in stages.
1) Voice commands (hands-free control)
The goal is a simple “Hey Velvet” style layer, mostly used before or after live conversation, not constantly interrupting it.
Planned capabilities:
Switch packs quickly (“I’m going on a date”)
Adjust style (“more witty”, “less coaching”)
Quick recap and quick insight requests
Optional: add a line to Vault via voice
2) Progress Dashboard (full)
This turns VelvetSpeak into a long-term improvement product, not just a moment-to-moment assistant.
Planned dashboard features:
Weekly/monthly trends (silence down, question balance up)
Milestones and achievements
Practice progression summary
History of which recommendations you applied
3) Social Decoder mode
This is a powerful feature, but it increases prompt complexity and output length, so it only ships when formatting is already rock solid.
Planned output style:
Subtext interpretation
Comfort or discomfort warnings (carefully)
Always a short “Say:” line as the primary output
4) Pro expansions (Ace Assist++ and Meeting Mode++)
Deeper interview templates, negotiation support, structured scripts
Meeting upgrades: action items, note capture, meeting summaries, contribution suggestions
Likely tested in a smaller cohort first
I’m intentionally slow-rolling major features and iterating based on real usage, not deadlines.
Expect regular patches during the beta sometimes weekly, sometimes spaced out depending on stability.
